I didn’t read as much as I usually do this month, and I’ve spent a lot of time reassuring myself that it’s ok. Am I convincing? Not at all. There’s a lot of guilt when I don’t prioritize something I love. Never the less, here are the whole two books I read in March.

All Fours – Miranda July
Ooooopppphhhhh. I’ve loved Miranda July’s work for about 15 years now. This one though…. made me really uncomfortable. I had a really hard time relating to the protagonist, and kept thinking “WHAT ARE YOU DOING WITH YOUR LIFE?!!!!!!”. The parts about motherhood were very relatable, as I am currently in the trenches with a 5 and 1 1/2 year old. Maybe that’s the point of it all? To challenge my ingrained ways of thinking, and explore other ways of living? Regardless, I’m glad I stuck with it, but this was not my fav.

The Games Gods Play – Abigail Owen
What a fun read! I’m discovering that fantasy is my jam. I couldn’t put this one down, and waiting until September for the second book seems impossible. There is so much to decipher and explore in this book, and the character development was magnificent. Each of the 12 labors (challenges) were so well thought out, and on brand for their corresponding gods. If you’re into fantasy, romantasy, mythology or action, this book is for you. Side bonus: I got a refresh on my Greek mythology.
