Holy crap! It happened. An actual dream come true and all the other applicable cliches. We now own a 1933 walnut Model M Steinway & Sons grand piano and I can’t quite believe this is reality. I walk past frequently to make sure it’s still there. I learned to play on my piano teacher’s Steinway, and knew it was a goal in life to have one. I’ve told Brandon on numerous occasions that if he ever wanted to do the biggest, most impressive romantic thing ever, just buy me a piano. And he pulled it off!
When we were house hunting, one of my requirements was that there had to be room for a grand to fit. When Brandon toured this house while I was out of town my first question was “Will a grand fit somewhere?”. He reassured me that the owners already had one tucked into the living room, so it was already a go for me. Once we moved in and really got a feel for the space, we agreed that a grand might be TOO grand for our house, and settled on an upright. I searched weekly for a Steinway upright on Facebook Marketplace, cause there was no way in heck we’d ever be able to walk into a Steinway show room and buy one off the floor. If only! I saw some really great walnut uprights that would fit beautifully, but the timing was never right with finances.

As my birthday rolled around this spring, it dawned on me that I wasn’t getting any younger (profound, I know) and that I needed to start making some of these long held dreams happen. I vocalized to Brandon and anyone else that would listen that this was the year I’d buy a piano. Less than a month later, I was browsing Facebook Marketplace and saw this beauty posted for a steal. Apparently manifesting really works. I sent it to Brandon and said verbatim, “Ok hear me out. I know it’s huge but they said they’re flexible on price and just want it to go to a good home. This would be a dream come true.” I was so excited that I couldn’t get my wits about me. Brandon ended up contacting the seller since he was less emotionally invested. Turns out a lot of people were interested, and the seller was going to repost for double the original listing price. GUTTED. Absolutely gutted. They did say if it had not sold at the new price within two weeks, we could have it for the original price. So there was still some hope, but not much.

Fast forward to Mother’s Day, and Brandon shows me text from the seller letting us know we could have it at the original price if we could move it by the end of the week. I was in shock. Was this really happening? I don’t consider myself a lucky person, and couldn’t believe my good fortune. Before committing 100% we went to see it in person and confirmed it was the piano for us. Two days later, the piano movers delivered and set it up in our dining room, which will now serve as the music room as well. I couldn’t be more pleased and fulfilled!
